The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Kathmandu is hiring a Residence Manager/Housekeeper (f/m/d) for the Ambassador’s Residence

The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Work closely with the Ambassador and his spouse on a broad range of matters relating to the day to day running of the Residence as a high-quality representation area.
  • Performance of cleaning and maintenance duties in accordance with hygienic hotel housekeeping standards, which include but are not limited to:
  • General cleaning of the Residence, including vacuuming, dusting, cleaning of floors, and other routine chores following a weekly plan.
  • Periodic scheduled cleaning of windows.
  • Upkeep of the patios and outdoor areas close to the house.
  • Maintain areas for food preparation and storage in accordance with highest health standards.
  • Managing social events, setting, decoration and clearing of lunches and dinners and daily activities which include professional handling of Residence clients and customers /serving them.
  • Preparation and setup of events.
  • Clean, polishing, maintain, and keep records (inventory) of valuable silver, china, glassware, etc.
  • To be responsible for the Residence official furnishings/inventory.
  • Take care /washing/ironing of representational guest linens.
  • Serve as contact point for routine maintenance, house technicians and supply activities.
  • Coordination of large representational events, including waiters and overall needs of outside caterer.
  • First point of contact.
  • As the ideal candidate you are able to communicate fluently in English orally and written. Hours can be flexible and may change depending on the needs of the Ambassador and scheduled events.

We are looking for candidates with:

  • Ideally hospitality training and/or excellent testimonials.
  • Proactive team player able to work at a high professional level, dealing with a very broad range of people.
  • Excellent service attitude, numeric, communication and presentation skills.
  • A Can-do attitude is a must.

The Embassy is offering you a full-time employment contract in accordance with Nepalese law. Your workweek comprises 40 hours, from Monday to Friday. You are entitled to 20 working days of annual leave, and the probationary period lasts six months.

Following a successful selection process, you must provide proof of medical fitness (through a medical examination conducted by the Embassy’s designated physician) prior to employment. In addition, a background and security check will be conducted. Your willingness to cooperate in this is required. Individuals who are not Nepalese citizens must have a valid residence permit and a valid work permit for Nepal by the time of hiring at the latest.
