The European Investment Bank joined hands with German Development Bank KfW to make the Chilime-Trishuli transmission line possible.
Financial mix of the Chilime-Trishuli transmission line project:
- EUR 14 million grant (GDC through KfW)
- EUR 2.25 million grant (EU mandate to KfW)
- EUR 30 million loan (EIB)
- Up to EUR 19 million (NEA)
German Ambassador Roland Schäfer is happy to join EIB-Vice President McDowell and EU Ambassador to Nepal Veronica Cody as well as representatives from the Nepali Government in the ground breaking ceremony on the 21st of November in Trishuli. The ceremony will formally mark the start of construction by the Nepal Electricity Authority.
The project includes the construction of a 27 km transmission line of double circuits at 220 KV voltage level, two hub substations as well as community electrification and upgrading of the existing National Electrical Load Dispatch Centre.
